The Georgian Bay Festival, a showcase of the music, agriculture, food, and talent that Tiny Township has to offer, will take centre stage on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Preparations are underway for the one-day event at 4230 Crossland Rd., which will offer a family fun zone, hay rides, vintage vehicles, and more.
“We have approximately 40 vendors already registered,” event manager Michael Mead explained to Tiny council in an update at the committee of the whole meeting this week.
A zipline, being labelled a “bee line,” is being installed for the event to promote “the honey experience” with Tiny becoming a Bee City, as per an application approved for Bee City Canada as part of council’s agenda later in the meeting.
Musical artists tentatively include: Marcel Diamond with “the Neil Diamond show”; the Midland Canadian Legion Pipes and Drums; Louis Lefaive; Elvis impersonator Bruno; and, to close the night, The Good Brothers.
“We’ve also had an offer for a second mobile stage,” Mead said, “which will make it possible for us to have a very seamless show; one artist will be able to perform while another artist is getting set up and ready.”
Admission starts at 11 a.m., and tickets will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, through cash only at the gate. Due to social distancing requirements, no pets will be allowed at the event with the exception of medical service animals. The event will run until 8 p.m.
Volunteers are in demand to help out at the event for the following: entrance gate, field parking, activity area, vendor area, mainstage area, putting up signage/pedestrian traffic controls, visitor help centre, emptying garbage, hay rides, and hobby farm. Shifts will range between three to seven hours in length.
“We can put the word out to volunteers,” said Mayor George Cornell, “to see what we can do to help you.”
