Dear Editor,
In response to the letters regarding short-term rentals, the focus is always on the noise and disruption.
In my opinion in the Township of Tiny that is not the issue, the issue is the erosion of our neighbourhoods.
I do not care how well a short-term rental is run, I want neighbours and a neighbourhood. I do not want different people in the house next door every few days.
The trend now is to purchase a house or cottage, never use it yourself and rent it out. Not only rent it out, but rent it out to anywhere from 8 to 20 people at a time.
Why so many? More people, more money!
I live in Tiny and as an example there are now over 60 short-term rentals just between the 16th and 17th concessions and probably over 600 short-term rentals in the township.
