MidlandToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected]. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). This letter is response to a March 29 article entitled Ontario to permanently set speed limits on some highway sections at 110 km/h.
Dear Editor,
At last!
Driving on the 400 at a few miles over 100 kilometres an hour, one is still overtaken by others driving faster. In other words, speed limits are a bit of a joke anyway and it is a waste of police resources to try to oversee this.
People will undoubtedly use their judgment and drive at a speed that is comfortable for them, for other traffic, and for road conditions. Anyone driving in an unsafe manner could be cautioned for "dangerous driving."
There is too much coddling by various levels of government, playing parent to all that we say and do - relief from speed limits will be welcomed.
