Zero new COVID cases in Simcoe-Muskoka today

This is the fifth time this month the health unit has reported no new cases for a day

The region's health unit is reporting no new COVID-19 cases today. This is the fourth day this month the local health unit has reported zero new cases for the day, with the report on July 15.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported six new COVID-19 cases yesterday. 

Since March, the region's health unit has reported 652 cases of the coronavirus. Of those, 154 have been related to institutional outbreaks including long-term care homes and one group home. There have been 29 cases related to workplace outbreaks. 

The age group with the most cases in the region is people aged 45-64 years old. There have been 192 cases in that age group, six are still active and three cases ended in death. 

A majority (621 cases) of the region's cases have been in Simcoe County with 31 cases to-date and zero active cases in Muskoka. 

Thirty-five people have died in Simcoe County and one in Muskoka and the health unit has reported 589 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 109.7 cases per 100,000 people in the population.

There are 27 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County, including four people who are hospitalized. Five of the active cases are people between zero and 17 years old, seven are people between 18 and 34 years old, four are people between 35 and 44 years old, six are people between 45 and 64 years old, one is between 65 and 79 years old, and two are over 80 years old.
