Snowbirds fly-over put in holding pattern today due to weather

World-famous aerobatics team putting London-to-Barrie route off until possibly Sunday due to low visibility and snowy conditions

“Operation Inspiration” was set to fly over Barrie today, but Mother Nature had other plans, stalling the event until at least tomorrow.

The famous Canadian Forces Snowbirds are putting their London-to-Barrie route off until possibly Sunday due to low visibility and snowy conditions.

The Snowbirds' Twitter account has been keeping people updated throughout the day, with the latest update saying: “Based on the snow and hail in and around Toronto, we will be holding (at) 8 Wing Trenton for 24 hours.”

The Snowbirds were scheduled to fly over Barrie shortly after 5 p.m., Saturday, and land at Lake Simcoe Regional Airport in Oro-Medonte Township at 5:15 p.m.

The fly-over is part of a morale-boosting, cross-country mission to lift people’s spirits during the COVID-19 health crisis.

The Snowbirds were last in Barrie during the 2019 Canada Day celebrations, showcasing manoeuvres over Kempenfelt Bay on a beautiful summer day.

BarrieToday will have more updates as they become available.
