The Town of Penetanguishene continues to monitor news and updates concerning COVID-19 in order to ensure we work to keep our community members safe.

RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

Parks and Amenities: Parks and amenities are open to the public. Please visit our website to view the regulations and safety measures in place at each location.

Swim Advisory: The SMDHU has issued a swimming advisory for Rotary Champlain Wendat Beach. The beach is not closed, but those who choose to swim are advised to avoid swallowing the water and dunking their heads underwater. For more information on swimming advisories please visit SMDHU.

Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre - Arena: Staff are currently completing an analysis with respect to financial and service level impacts as they pertain to the provincial reopening framework.  Staff are striving to bring a report to Council on September 9 for further direction.

Recreation Programs: Staff are currently working on a plan for Fall recreation programs. Further updates will be released as a public notice and visible on Town social media channels.

FINANCE UPDATES

CURRENT COVID-19 FINANCIAL RELIEF MEASURES:

  1. Fire Permit and Dog Licence fee waivers have been extended until Dec. 31;
  2. Penalties on the 3rd and 4th tax installments due on July 31 and Sept. 30 have been waived for two months;
  3. Penalties on utility bills that fall due between August 1 and Nov. 30 have been waived for two months; and
  4. NSF charges have been waived until Dec. 31.

Payments can be made in our 24 hour drop-box at the main entrance to Townhall (indicate on the outside of the envelope if you would like a receipt mailed or emailed to you).

Other payment options include online banking, telephone banking using TelPay, Town Pre-authorized Payment Program, in person at your bank, or in person at Townhall M-F 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed daily 12-1 p.m.).  For further information you can contact the Finance Department by email [email protected] , by phone 705-549-7453 or go to www.penetanguishene.ca

TOWN OF PENETANGUISHENE – 2021 BUDGET - We Want To Hear From You!

The Town of Penetanguishene 2021 Budget process is underway, and a public survey is being conducted to encourage dialogue with our residents. As part of our customer service strategy, our team works hard to provide opportunities for residents to provide their input on various Town topics. We hope that this survey enables you to share your thoughts with us on financial matters and budget priorities for the Town of Penetanguishene.

PLANNING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

RTO7 PPE Funding: If you’re a tourism operator in the counties of Bruce, Grey and Simcoe and have incurred business expenses for PPE (personal protective equipment) during COVID-19, RTO7 can help! With $150,000 in funding available, funds will be allocated on a “first-come, first-served” basis to 150 tourism businesses in our region, 50 per county.  Each business may be reimbursed a maximum of $1000 to cover these expenses, retroactive to April 1, 2020. FIRE AND OPP UPDATES

OPP Reporting Tool: We remind residents that OPP ask that you report allegations of non-compliance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act by phoning 1-888-310-1122 or utilizing the online reporting tool at opp.ca/reporting.

Fire Safety: Fire permits are not required at this time. Please remember that fires are for recreational purposes and are only permitted between 4 p.m. to midnight.
