Another Barrie resident has died as a result of COVID-19.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported the death today.
The health unit also confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, including a Barrie resident in her 20s who is a staff member at a long-term care facility in outbreak. Her case transmission is listed as undetermined.
Previously, Dr. Charles Gardner has said it is not possible to determine whether a long-term care worker who tests positive got the virus through community transmission or as a result of the outbreak at their workplace, so their cases are listed as undetermined.
Another Barrie woman in her 20s is also listed among the new cases as community-acquired.
A man in his 60s from Innisfil tested positive for the coronavirus, and his case is under investigation.
The two other cases reported today include a woman in her 30s from Tay, and a woman in her 50s from New Tecumseth. Both are cases of community transmission.
There are nine people hospitalized in the region with COVID-19, including eight people in Simcoe County.
Yesterday, the local health unit confirmed four deaths and 15 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 379 cases of COVID-19 in the Simcoe-Muskoka region, including 203 recoveries and 30 deaths.

Barrie (125 cases, 67 recoveries, 9 deaths, 1 in hospital), Bradford West Gwillimbury (86 cases, 35 recoveries, 11 deaths, 2 in hospital), New Tecumseth (30 cases, 17 recoveries, 2 in hospital, one death), Orillia (15 cases, 10 recoveries, 2 deaths), Collingwood (11 cases, 7 recoveries, 1 in hospital), Innisfil (29 cases, 14 recoveries, 1 in hospital), Springwater (6 cases, 4 recoveries, 1 death), Midland (6 cases, all recovered), Wasaga Beach (11 cases, 6 recoveries, 1 death), Oro-Medonte (5 cases, 2 recoveries, 2 deaths, 1 in hospital), Adjala-Tosorontio (7 cases, 6 recoveries), Clearview (6 cases, 2 recoveries, one death), Essa (7 cases, 5 recoveries, 1 death), Ramara (5 cases, 2 recoveries), Tiny (2 cases, all recovered), Tay (4 cases, 1 in hospital), Penetanguishene (2 cases, all recovered), and Severn (3 cases, 1 recovered) for a total of 360 cases in Simcoe County, including 188 recoveries.
There are also 18 confirmed positive cases in Muskoka, and 15 have recovered, one person from Muskoka Lakes has died.
The case rate (including lab-confirmed cases only) for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 62.7 cases per 100,000 population. The provincial average is 140.7 cases per 100,000 population.
