NEWS RELEASE
THE TOWN OF MIDLAND
*************************
In another move to help reduce financial strain on residents, the Town of Midland has announced that Mid-Pen Transit Service will continue to be free for riders through the month of April.

“During this unprecedented situation, we want to ensure that our residents can still use our transit service without financial concern,” said Mayor Stewart Strathearn. “We encourage residents to use transit for only essential trips, to continue to help reduce the spread of COVID-19."

Riders are asked to board and deboard using the rear doors when it is an option, to maintain physical distance from transit operators. Riders with disabilities may still use the front door if needed.

Also, the Mid-Pen Transit Service will continue to operate Monday to Saturday, using the “Saturday” schedule, until at least Tuesday, April 14. The reason for this is a combination of lower ridership, and extra caution being taken for an employee at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19, resulting in fewer transit operators being available. For more details on the schedule, please visit: www.midland.ca/Pages/transit.aspx

The Town of Midland will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and provide updates on the Town of Midland website at Midland.ca, and we encourage residents to follow our social media channels for updates as well, @MidlandON on Twitter, and @townofmidland on Facebook.
