Another new COVID-19 case reported today in Midland

Collingwood has its first confirmed case in two months

A Midland woman has tested positive for COVID-19 while another county town is reporting its first new case in more than two months.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, a Collingwood man between 35 and 44 years old has tested positive for the virus and the transmission source is listed as close contact.

The last time the health unit reported a coronavirus case in Collingwood was May 19. 

In today's report for the region, there are six other new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including four in Barrie, one in Springwater and one in New Tecumseth. 

The Barrie cases include three women between 18 and 34 years old and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. One case transmission is close contact and the rest are under investigation.

In Midland and New Tecumseth, the latest cases are both woman between 45 and 64 years old, and both community-acquired.

The Springwater case is a woman between 18 and 34 years old, and was a community-acquired transmission. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 635 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date, with 604 of those reported in Simcoe County. 

Thirty-six people have died in Simcoe County and Muskoka and the health unit has reported 563 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 106.8 cases per 100,000 people in the population. 

There are 35 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including three people hospitalized, according to the health unit's July 20 epidemiological report.
