The region's public health unit has confirmed 21 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County and one in Muskoka District, including two local residents.
Today's Tay Township and Midland cases both involve women between 45 and 64 years old, whose cases are still under investigation.
There are five new cases reported in Barrie today, including a man and a woman between 18 and 34 years old (close contact transmission), a man and a woman between 35 and 44 years old (community-acquired and under investigation), and a man between 45 and 64 years old (community-acquired).
There are six new cases in Bradford including a boy under the age of 18. The new Bradford West Gwillimbury cases also include a woman and two men between 18 and 34 years old, and a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old. Transmission for five of the cases is listed as under investigation, and the oldest male case is listed as community-acquired.
One person from Bradford has been hospitalized since the last health unit update posted yesterday.
The health unit reported one new case in Orillia, Wasaga Beach, Innisfil, Clearview and Adjala Tosorontio in today's report. The Orillia case is a woman between 45 and 64 years old and is attributed to close contact. . The Adjala Tosorontio case is a woman between 35 and 44 years old whose case is linked to an institutional outbreak.
The remaining three Simcoe County cases reported today are all New Tecumseth residents. There is one man between 35 and 44 years old and one woman between 45 and 64 years old whose cases are under investigation, and there is a workplace outbreak-related case involving a man between 45 and 64 years old.
The single Muskoka case reported today is a Gravenhurst woman between 35 and 44 years old whose transmission is linked to an institutional outbreak. The health unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Granite Ridge Retirement Facility in Gravenhurst yesterday.
Simcoe Manor in Beeton is still in outbreak status with 40 resident cases, 28 staff cases, and nine deaths linked to the COVID-19 outbreak at the county-owned facility. As of last night, 26 residents and 11 staff cases are reported as recovered.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,326 cases of COVID-19, with 1,248 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,111 cases listed as recovered. Six people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 49 deaths.
The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 236 cases per 100,000 people.
