Adopt Me: After rough start, Wayne deserves some love

Despondent after arriving at shelter with leg injury, Wayne now purrs with contentment and leans into scratches behind his ears

MidlandToday, in partnership with the SPCA Midland Animal Centre, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

This week we'd like to shine the spotlight on Wayne who has had a bit of a journey in our care. He was brought into our care as a stray with an injured front leg which is why he's seen wearing a cone in all the pictures we have of him. He'll need to continue wearing it until he has healed completely.

In his first days here he was pretty despondent, which is fair enough considering the state of his leg, however it has been lovely to see his personality come back through him with time. He now welcomes company with purrs and leans into scratches behind his ears. His road to recovery has been very rewarding to see and he's now ready to find his forever home.

Because of his leg injury, he struggled to find comfortable footing in the normal beds and cat cabins we would provide and opted to lay in his litter box. When this happens, we provide our cats with a second litter box with towels inside to encourage them to sleep in that one instead of their litter. Wayne has loved his comfy box.

He's two years old and looking to find the family who will complete his comeback story so he can begin the rest of his life.

For more information on how to adopt Wayne, please contact the Midland Centre at [email protected] or by calling 705-534-4459
