The Midland Cultural Centre (MCC) would like to extend thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to its volunteers.

“Our volunteers are the real heroes of our local arts and culture scene,” explained Dan Broome, Executive Director of the MCC. “We are so appreciative of their tireless dedication and passion in all that they do here.”

The MCC has a legion of volunteers who contribute to virtually every aspect of the centre, including Box Office and Front of House, Hospitality, Merchandise Sales, Marketing and Community Engagement, Photography, Audio/Visual, Event Set-up, the MCC Art Gallery, and the Board of Directors.

“We call our volunteers Ambassadors,” said Broome. “As a community-based organization, the role that MCC Ambassadors play is much bigger and more important than the sum of all the tasks they perform to keep the MCC running smoothly.”

MCC volunteers could be working as ushers or selling tickets for shows; they could be greeting and providing hospitality to artists; doing stage changes; working on AV; selling merchandise or taking photos during a show; or any one of a number of other exciting roles.

“But,” said Broome, “They are, most importantly, a dedicated, fun-loving team who promote the MCC throughout the community and beyond, and contribute their time, talents and passion for this amazing facility.”

People volunteer at the MCC for any number of reasons. They might want to get involved in Midland’s vibrant arts and culture community. Or, they would like to meet new people. Perhaps they would like to try something different, or shape and build their community. Maybe they are interested in building their skills, or in learning new skills. For high school students, the lure could be obtaining the community hours they need to graduate. Whatever the reason, volunteering at the MCC is both rewarding and appealing for all of its volunteers.

“We at the MCC see incredible community spirit in all of our volunteers, and we would just like to say, ‘Thank you so much! We couldn’t do this without you!’”
