Victim in fatal crash identified as Penetanguishene resident, 20

Collingwood OPP seeking public assistance in relation to single vehicle collision Friday

COLLINGWOOD – Ontario Provincial Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash last week as a 20-year-old from Midland.

Officers from the Collingwood OPP continue to investigate the collision on Grey Road 19 south of the 6th Line in the Town of Blue Mountains.

Police and emergency crews responded to crash on Friday at around 10:20 p.m.

Police said the vehicle was located in a ditch with a solo occupant. The driver was pronounced deceased at scene.

The victim has been identified as Aven Akerman, 20, of Penetanguishene.

In a news release, police said the investigation is ongoing.

The Collingwood OPP are requesting that if anyone witnessed the incident, has video surveillance or dash cam footage that may assist investigators, to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
