A traffic stop Monday in Midland has resulted in a drug charge being laid against a Christian Island woman.

At about 9:30 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers pulled over a driver on Midland Avenue after being alerted by the automated licence plate recognition system. The woman was wanted on a warrant from a different police service and, during the traffic stop, police found cocaine, according to a news release.

Rose Copegog, 44, has been charged with possession of a Schedule 2 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine). She was transferred to the police service that had issued a warrant for her arrest and is set to appear in court in Midland on Dec. 21.
