Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a number of online scams/frauds and of note is one that surfaced this week.

A few seasonal residents returning to their residences this week and reactivating their TV/cable services have found that their bank accounts fell victim to large withdrawals in the following days.

Be sure to contact the proper number for your service provider from your past bills and be mindful of unusual delays or suspicious information requests in the call.

In an effort to keep residents of north Simcoe aware of these incidents, which unfortunately some will become victims of these types of crimes, the following link has been provided as an easy guide to help avoid becoming a victim. Please view the following link for the A-Z of reported scams to research: Scams by A-Z index (antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca).
