A man sleeping in a second-floor apartment was shaken out of his slumber when a portion of an historic building in downtown Penetanguishene collapsed earlier this morning,
Officials say at around 3 a.m., the southwest side of the structure, at 78 Main Street, collapsed.
A photographer spoke to a man who had been sleeping in his apartment at the time of the collapse; the man said he fell out of his bed, on to the ground. He sustained minor injuries.
All residents have been accounted for, officials say.
Fire crews from Penetanguishene, Midland and Barrie responded to the incident along with crews from Hydro One and Union Gas in addition to structural engineers.
It is believed the main portion of the building was constructed in the 1800s.
It's not clear what caused the building to collapse.
OPP ask people to avoid the area.
