Sandy died peacefully on April 4,2024 at Hospice Huronia in Penetanguishene after a valiant battle with cancer. She has been cremated and a private family interment will take place at a later date.

Sandy was born in Toronto and was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Margaret French. She leaves behind her loving husband, Derk J. (Dick) Wesselo, her stepchildren Jack (Heather) and Alida (Trevor), 5 grandchildren, her brothers John French (Louise) and Gary French (Karin) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandy was a graduate of The Bishop Strachan School in Toronto and graduated from the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing in 1972.

Sandy worked tirelessly throughout her career in the medical environment and founded a Clinical Research Services Company in 1989. The Company successfully provided temporary clinical research assistance services to Hospitals, Clinics and Individual MD’s across Canada.

Sandy was a stickler for details and maintained an extremely high standard of accuracy and precision in her work. Those standards were equally applied to her housekeeping efforts and her gardens around the house.

She loved her house overlooking the Copeland Creek and the many gardens she built around them; the cottage on French’s Bay outside of Pointe au Baril and especially her cats and dogs. She became an active member of the Midland Bridge Club and was always ready to put a dinner party on for friends and or family.

Her unwavering dedication to family, friends and community will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Those missing her very much include Bear the Sheepadoodle and Ollie the cat.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Staff at Hospice Huronia -Tomkins House, the medical staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, especially Dr. Neesha Dhani and Dr. Jennifer Croke as well as to Sue French, Sandy’s long time loyal friend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation in Sandy’s memory to Hospice Huronia – Tomkins House, 948 Fuller Avenue, Penetanguishene, ON, L9M1G7.
