Elizabeth Ann Terek was born July 12, 1937 in Yugoslavia to humble parents, Elizabeth and Alexander Terek. She was the fourth child from five siblings. Her three older sisters were Mary, Veronica, Helen and her younger brother, Michael, was born five years later.

Elizabeth loved her family very much and always spoke very highly of her parents, her brother and her sisters with much love. Knowing that starting a family would be extremely difficult in Yugoslavia she embarked on a journey that brought her to Canada, forcing her to leave her family behind and she never looked back. In Canada, Elizabeth married my father Frank, and together they raised two children, Helen and myself, Veronica. They dedicated their younger years lovingly raising us on a large farm and struggled to make ends meet but that never stopped them from giving us everything that we needed to allow a family to grow.

When they couldn’t reconcile their differences, my parents parted and went their separate ways. This, however, did not stop them from loving us and they continuously poured out their energy and dedicated the rest of their lives to helping us and their seven grandchildren. Elizabeth had a heart of gold and always found a way to persevere through every situation that was presented. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that on the night I was born, she first made sure that all her duties were taken care of at the farm, then she called her friend to babysit Helen and then waited for my father to get home from work.

She made it to the hospital just in the nick of time. When she experienced the loss of her daughter, Helen and her four grandchildren, it was the love of Jesus that carried her through that ordeal, because she still continued to persevere with her heart of gold. She just never stopped loving and she learnt a lesson that most of us will never experience – that is how to forgive. A mother’s love is full of compassion, generosity, patience and dedication and she had all of that - right to the very end of her dying breath. Elizabeth Ann Terek passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital on October 24, 2023 in the arms of Jesus.

Elizabeth Ann Terek leaves behind her daughter Veronica (Frank) and her grandchildren Kathleen (Adam), Joseph (Samantha), Paul (Taylor) and her great grandchild Benjamin.

Her late husband Frank Miholic predeceased her in Jan. 2014.

She was predeceased by her daughter Helen and her grandchildren Ludvik, Christopher, Suzy and Nancy.

She also leaves behind her sister Helen (Icu) from former Yugoslavia (Serbia) and predeceased by siblings Mary, Veronica and Michael.
