It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen (Kay) Mombourquette announces her passing on Tuesday, November 8, 2023. To her credit Kay was a real fighter right until the end. Kay, as was known to many, suffered with Crohn's since the early 70’s and later in life developed COPD. To her credit she did not let this interfere with her enjoyment of life.

Kay was an avid knitter and crafter until arthritis set in. Besides knitting, Kay also enjoyed doing ceramics and cross stitching. Outside of work and her crafts, she also enjoyed travelling to various places in the States. While working with the City of Barrie, there were many excursions to Buffalo, New York for a “Girls Get Away Weekend” (in other words shopping) with Joanna’s fabrics being her favourite stop.
When the grandchildren were young, you could count on her calling in April to plan her summer vacation at the trailer with the grandchildren. She was the one to teach them all how to fish even though she did not like putting the worms on hooks, and she always sent them back home with crafts that they had made.

When not working or travelling you could find Kay at her other happy place, the racetrack. Kay enjoyed many years, first watching her husband, Mike, then her oldest son John followed by his son Kyle and most recently her grandson Dustyn racing. You could always count on her weekends being tied up watching NASCAR races on TV.

Kay was a loving mother to John Mombourquette (Kathleen Huard), Robert (Bob) Mombourquette, Shelley Roy (Murray Stright) and Gary Mombourquette. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Michelle Romanic, Brandon Roy, Kyle Mombourquette, Kera Mombourquette, Jillian Roy and Dustyn Mombourquette. She will also be greatly missed by her sister Cheryl Tredgett (Dennis Rushforth).

Kay was predeceased by her loving parents, John and Phyllis Tredgett, the love of her life husband Mike Mombourquette and her sweet granddaughter Melissa Mombourquette.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crohn's and Colitis foundation, the Cancer Society, or charity of your choice
would be greatly appreciated.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
