Passed away peacefully on Thursday November 9, 2023 at Hospice Huronia-Tomkins House at the age of 91.
Loving husband of Anne Agnew. Cherished father of Judi (Brad Jones) and Stephen (Iliana). Jim will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Perianne (Joel), Kieran (Anna), Joel (Morgan), Liam (Jessica) and by his great-grandchildren Vivia, Eliza, Rylee, Rory, Austin, Lakely and Brady. Jim is predeceased by his parents and his sister.
Jim loved physical activity and sports, particularly in the outdoors. As a high school student at Barrie Collegiate Institute, he took pride in playing French Horn in the band, and was an exceptional track athlete along with playing hockey, football and basketball. As a teacher at Midland Secondary School, where he taught for many years, he was instrumental in developing an extracurricular outdoor activity program.
In addition, he spent countless hours participating with and supporting his children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavours, including hockey, track and field, basketball, volleyball alpine and cross country skiing. This inspired his children, grandchildren and many students at Midland Secondary School to get engaged in the outdoors and sport in a variety of ways.
