Georgian Bay OPP hit the snowmobile trails, lay 16 charges

The charges relate to snowmobilers speeding and driving without licences or insurance; One was issued a suspension for blood-alcohol level

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment conducted 19 hours of Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) patrol this past weekend. Officers patrolled North Simcoe trails in Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny Township, Tay Township and Georgian Bay Township, Beausoleil Island.   

Officers laid 16 charges to MSV operators who were found violating sections of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act in relation to speed limits, driver's licences, ownership and insurance requirements.   

In addition, one MSV operator was issued a three-day driver's licence suspension after they registered a blood-alcohol concentration in the "warn range" on a trailside breath test.
