The SS Keewatin plies the waters of Georgian Bay for the final time last spring.

The following letter is in response to MidlandToday's annual April Fool's article titled 'Exciting times' as Keewatin returns to Port McNicoll next month published April 1.

Dear Editor,

I read with interest and then dismay the article that suggested that the Keewatin is returning to the Midland area. I can see that this was an April Fool's joke but I have to say, one in bad taste.

There are countless people who loved and mourned the loss of the Keewatin to another community. The departure hurt the communities that were part of the ship's history and the wounds are not likely to heal quickly.

I suggest that if you want the public to trust local journalism to refrain from stories like this and stick to journalism that bears truth.
