Vasey, along the road of the same name was the location of the original Mark Vasey log cabin and general store. We learn, from the Tay Archives, that he was born in 1843 and died in 1915.

In 1876, Mark Vasey was appointed postmaster in Victoria Harbour and in 1879, we learn he was stationmaster for the GTR (Grand Trunk Railway).

In addition he assessed land  and collected taxes for the Township. He was a member of the Methodist  Church in Victoria Harbour.
