Wasaga Beach man charged after stolen vehicles, tools recovered in Port Severn (4 photos)

He faces 12 total charges

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 11:24 a.m. July 13, 2020 to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a Port Severn Road North, Georgian Bay Township residence.

Attending officers located a person in a vehicle matching the report on the property and spoke with the occupant of the vehicle.

A further investigation of the occupant by attending officers and members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) lead the officers into a stolen property investigation.

This investigation lead to officers locating a number of stolen sail boards, 2006 Honda CRF80F dirt bike, 2020 Honda Rubicon ATV, 2002 Chevrolet pick up truck, 2019 Kia Forte along with a large number of Dewalt hand tools and consumer goods all stolen throughout the region from retail stores and private residences. 

Investigators have arrested and charged Gaston Charles Gagnon 31 years of Wasaga Beach with the following property related offences.

  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada (seven counts)
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada (three counts)
  • Break and enter a place to commit
  • Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Oct. 1, 2020

The recovered property has been returned to the rightful owners by investigators.
