One person is facing attempted murder, forcible confinement, weapons, and break-and-enter-related charges in connection to a Wasaga Beach assault investigation.

Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police collaborated with Toronto Police Service to arrest a 20-year-old Toronto resident on Feb. 8 as a suspect in their investigation into a Feb. 2 assault that occurred in Wasaga Beach.

According to a news release issued by Huronia West OPP today, police were called to River Road East in Wasaga Beach at about 10 p.m. on Feb. 2, where they discovered a male suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a Toronto trauma centre and is recovering.

Police have now charged Kailend Coote, 20, of Toronto with attempted murder, two counts of forcible confinement, break and enter, and a dangerous weapons charge.

The accused is being held in police custody pending a bail hearing. None of the charges have been proven in court.
