Traffic stop results in impaired driving charge

OPP spotted the accused driving in an 'aggressive manner'

At 9 p.m. on May 22, 2020, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay Detachment was on general patrol on Balm Beach Road in the Town of Midland and observed a car being being driven in an aggressive manner. The officer stopped the vehicle and noticed signs of alcohol consumption while speaking with the driver. The officer arrested the male and transported him to the detachment to continue the investigation.

As a result, Jeremy Langford, 28 years of Midland has been charged with the following offence under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The driver's licence of the accused has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Aug. 27, 2020.

Police remind motorists that enforcement is essential to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
