Three charged after drugs seized in Midland

Police seized drugs and other items after a search warrant was executed in Midland on Friday.

Three people are facing charges after drugs were seized from a Midland residence Friday.

Police executed a search warrant at a residence on William Street at 5 a.m. as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police seized fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription pills, Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Six people were arrested as a result of the investigation.

Warren Edwards, 38, of Midland, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (opioid, fentanyl), possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine), possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He was released on an undertaking and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Vance Sylvester, 32, of Christian Island, was charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with probation.

He was held for a show cause hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Stevie Hook, 30, of Midland, was charged with obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with an appearance notice.

Hook was released on an undertaking and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Two of the others who were arrested were released to other police services for “ongoing judicial processes,” police stated in a news release.

The sixth person arrested was released at the scene.

The investigation was led by the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit and Huronia West and Collingwood OPP.

They were assisted at the scene by uniform members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the Tactics and Rescue Unit from OPP General Headquarters, and OPP Central Region’s Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit.
