Suspects identified, charged in Port McNicoll robbery

The following persons have been identified and charged in relation to the robbery in Port McNicoll as follows.

James Kyle Dempsey, 26 years old of Tay Township:

  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Imitation firearm - use while committing an offence
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Pointing a firearm (two counts)

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Steven Lizotte, 39 years old of Tay Township:

  • Robbery using a firearm/imitation firearm - use while committing offence
  • Knowledge of unauthorized poss of a firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Operation while prohibited

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Carrie Ann Goneau, 40 years old of Tay Township:

  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Imitation firearm - use while committing offence
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

All of the accused persons are being held for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on May 27, 2021.
