Suspect in Vaughan Mills break and enter wanted Canada-wide

Police have identified Israel Muamba, 19, as a suspect after a vehicle was driven through the mall in a break and enter on Feb. 1

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for one of the suspects in the break and enter at Vaughan Mills on Feb. 1 in which a vehicle was driven through the mall

York Regional Police said Israel Muamba, 19, of Montreal faces a number of charges in relation to the break and enter. 

The incident occurred at 1:10 a.m. on Feb. 1. A vehicle was driven through one entrance of the mall, driven throughout the mall to an electronics store where a number of devices were stolen. The thieves then drove out another entrance of the mall. 

The car, a 2011 black Audi sedan, was located later that day in the area of James Snow Parkway and Highway 401 in Milton with help from the public and Halton Regional Police. 

The investigation was also aided by Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal and Le Service de police de Laval, which led to Muamba being identified as a suspect. 

He is wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for the following charges: 

  • Break enter and commit
  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Disguise with intent
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Dangerous driving

Police encourage him to seek legal counsel and turn himself in. Anyone who is or has assisted him is also warned that they could be charged criminally. 

A second male suspect is also sought by police.
