Snowmobile crash sends 1 to hospital with significant injuries

A snowmobile operator suffered significant injuries after losing control of his vehicle late last evening.

On Feb. 24, 2023, just after 11 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a report of a snowmobile collision in the Lafontaine area.

The 24-year-old operator of the machine was located at a nearby residence. He was transported to a local hospital, however, as a result of his injuries, he was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital by ORNGE Air Ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing, the collision occurred on OFSC trail #303 approximately one kilometre from Chemin Du Loup in Tiny Township.

The scene is being examined by members of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit.

No charges have been laid.
