Pickup truck driver dead after Hwy. 12 collision in Tay

Road expected to remain closed until late afternoon, police say

A dump truck was involved in Wednesday morning's collision on Highway 12.

Update (2:46 p.m.)

The driver of the pickup truck involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

The driver of the dump truck was treated for minor injuries at scene.

Highway 12 between Gratrix Road and Fraser Road remains closed in both directions and is expected to reopen late this afternoon.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. Sept. 21, uniform officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment responded to a report that a commercial vehicle and a pickup truck were involved in a serious crash on Highway 12 between Gratrix Road and Fraser Road, Tay Township.

Tay Township Fire Services along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services are at scene treating the involved drivers.

Members of the OPP TIME team have been requested to assist in the investigation and motorists should expect the roadway to be closed until late in the afternoon.

Neekaunis Road is currently being used as a detour around the crash scene and traffic should consider using Vasey Road.
