Police probe suspicious death after body found outside Tay home

Police believe there is no threat to the general public as this is not believed to be a random incident

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a suspicious death in Tay Township. 

On Monday, July 5, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a call for service at a residence on Old Fort Road. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male outside of the residence. Members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Canine Unit provided assistance at the scene. 

A death investigation is being conducted by the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto. Police believe there is no threat to the general public as this is not believed to be a random incident. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
