Police investigate attempted abduction in Collingwood

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP released a public safety message today as part of an investigation into an attempted abduction that occurred in Collingwood this weekend. 

According to police, a man in a vehicle reached through the window to grab the arm of woman passing by on a bicycle. The woman freed herself and left the area without any further interactions with the man. 

The incident occurred in the area of Tenth and Oak Streets on Saturday, April 30 in the evening. 

Police stated the vehicle involved is a red SUV or crossover that was last seen driving away from the scene of the incident. The driver is described as a white man, heavy build in his 30s or 40s, and wearing a black jacket and red toque. 

The local OPP service is still investigating the incident and encourage anyone with information to call Collingwood OPP at 705-445-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can leave an anonymous tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

"The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their surroundings and personal safety at all times and to call police to report any suspicious activity," states a news release from the police.
