Penetanguishene man nabbed for driving ATV on roads

The 22-year-old was charged after OPP investigated an ongoing complaint

PENETANGUISHENE – On Oct. 26, 2020 officers from Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 3:55 p.m. to assist Penetanguishene By-law officers.

OPP officers assisted by investigating an ongoing complaint of ATV's being operated on Owen Street and Nettleton Drive in the Town of Penetanguishene. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and operator at his residence and have charged a 22-year-old male driver of Penetanguishene with the following offence under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario:

  • Unlawfully drive off road vehicle on highway

Officers thank area residents for their reporting of the illegal operation of vehicles on the roadways and continue to request your assistance in keeping our community roadways safe. 

The Town of Penetanguishene By-Law staff will continue to monitor for the illegal operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATV) on municipal roadways and properties. ATV operators are urged to check with the municipality and local ATV clubs ( OFATV ) for up to date by-law information before riding on roadways and trails.
