Penetanguishene library mischief investigation leads to multiple bail violation charges

A 30-year-old person of no fixed address awaits a bail hearing in custody

(MIDLAND, ON) - On June 29, 2020, at 11:55 a.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a mischief incident that had occurred on June 28, 2020, at 8:42 p.m. at the Penetanguishene Public Library.

OPP officers through investigation were able to identify the suspect and on July 12, 2020, at 2:16 a.m. officers attended a disturbance at a Manly Street, Midland residence and located the suspect.

Officers arrested the suspect on an arrest warrant who was on a release order from bail court on a previous police investigation and had committed a series of violations in regards to the release order conditions.

Charged is Asia L'Enfant, 30 years, of no fixed address with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court (12 counts) Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is currently being held in custody to appear before a video bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
