Penetanguishene driver charged during weekend RIDE check

A RIDE check stop set up on Brunelle Side Road at Fuller Avenue, Midland operated by members the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was successful in removing an impaired driver from the roadways at 12:44 a.m. March 26, 2022.

Officers entered into an impaired driving investigation after they stopped a vehicle travelling on Fuller Avenue at the RIDE check stop.

Charged is Charles Story, 30 years old of Penetanguishene, with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on April 7, 2022 and also faces a drivers licence suspension of 90 days and involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Officers conducted 11 such RIDE check stops over the weekend at a variety of locations throughout the detachment patrol area resulting in 181 drivers and their vehicles being checked for signs of impairment.
