One person is dead and another has been charged following a single-vehicle collision early Saturday morning in Oro-Medonte.
Shortly after 1 a.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a collision on 15/16 Sideroad, between Line 5 and Line 6, and found a vehicle with extensive damage. The male driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a male passenger was pronounced dead at scene, Orillia OPP said in a news release.
The driver, whose name has not been released, has been charged with dangerous operation causing death and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus). He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
