Orillia OPP nab driver who has been suspended since 1982

RAMARA TOWNSHIP - Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one male with multiple Highway Traffic Act violations following a traffic stop.

On April 9, 2022 shortly before 5 p.m., an Orillia OPP officer stopped a pickup truck in the Brechin area due to safety concerns for the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, police learned that he was a suspended driver since 1982.  

As a result of the investigation, an 82-year-old male from Kirkfield, was charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:
    •    drive unsafe motor vehicle, HTA 84
    •    drive while under suspension, HTA 53(1) x3

His vehicle was subsequently seized and towed.
