OPP searching for missing camper at Awenda Provincial Park (UPDATE: located)

Update:

At approximately 4:02 p.m. June 24, the missing person was located by the OPP Aviation Unit on a property nearby the park. The individual was transported to an area hospital by County of Simcoe paramedics for examination and treatment of any injuries he may have sustained in today's weather.

Investigators wish to thank the various EMS members and members of the public for their assistance during this successful search.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the assistance of the public to locate a missing male last observed at 8:30 a.m. June 24, 2022 leaving his campsite with his dog in Awenda Provincial Park. The dog was later located safe in the park, the male has not been located and is still missing.

The missing person is described as being a male white, 6'1"/185 cm tall, 180 lbs/82 kg in weight, reading glasses, wearing gray/white checkered shorts, plain orange coloured T-shirt, Green Bay Packers ball cap, black croc footwear.

Investigators from detachment along with members from the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Unit ERT and Canine Unit (Tytan) along with Parks staff are continuing the search this afternoon in the park grounds.
