OPP nab impaired driver during mid-day traffic stop

An officer on patrol from Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 11:41 a.m. July 13, 2021 noted a vehicle on Simcoe County Road 6 being operated by an possible impaired driver. The officer spoke with the driver and entered into an impaired driving investigation, making an arrest at the roadside .

As a result of this investigation Peter Wanless, 63, of Springwater Township, has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and further with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and further with driving with liquor readily available and driving with open liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

The accused was released on an recognizance to appear before the  Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on July 29, 2021 and is subject to a 90-day licence suspension and vehicle tow/impound under the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
