Patrol officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment were kept busy over the Labour Day weekend responding to over 462 land or water-based calls for service to the public. Officers investigated 22 vehicle crashes and conducted five RIDE check stops checking 110 vehicles to help reduce the incidence of impaired driving on our roadways.
Three officers conducted enhanced traffic patrol in Tiny Township, stopping numerous vehicles for traffic violations, and issued over 30 offence notices, including a stunt driving investigation of 147 km/h on Simcoe County Road 93.
Educating the public about safe driving practices with our community safety partners is a priority. If you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways, or trails, please "Make the Call" and dial 911, as impaired driving never ends well; please make a plan to get home safely.
