OPP lays 191 charges in Wasaga Beach over weekend

Huronia West OPP says officers laid 191 charges over the weekend in Wasaga Beach and the main arteries leading into town.

Between Friday, Aug. 26, and Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, preliminary numbers show officers responded to 327 calls for service and laid 191 charges. Of those, police say 154 were Highway Traffic Act (HTA)-related, which included 37 speed-related, 18 improper or no muffler, and six unnecessary noise.

In addition, three motorists were charged with impaired operation, and officers conducted two RIDE initiatives.

Police also say there are numerous active investigations into the incidents that transpired in Wasaga Beach this past weekend, including property damage and break and enters.

"The OPP will conduct thorough and exhaustive investigations holding those responsible accountable," police stated in a news release.

Residents and visitors of Wasaga Beach who have not yet reported property damage or other crime from the weekend are asked to call the police.
