OPP deploys 19 new officers to Central Region

Three of the recent graduates are joining Southern Georgian Bay detachment

Nineteen new OPP officers are joining detachments in Central Region.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is welcoming 19 new constables to Central Region, including one at the Orillia detachment.

The announcement comes following a graduation ceremony Thursday.

The officers are members of Class 500 who completed their training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and the OPP Academy in Orillia.

The new constables have been deployed as follows:

  • Orillia — one officer
  • Bracebridge — one officer
  • City of Kawartha Lakes — three officers
  • Huntsville — one officer
  • Northumberland — two officers
  • Nottawasaga — seven officers
  • Peterborough County — one officer
  • Southern Georgian Bay — three officers

“Today marks the start of a remarkable career for the 19 provincial constables joining Central Region. With diverse backgrounds and experience, these officers provide a wealth of knowledge and (perspective) to further enhance our ability to deliver exceptional front-line policing service,” OPP Central Region Chief Supt. Dwight Peer said in a news release. “We remain committed to work collaboratively with our communities to prevent crime, enhance public safety, and reduce fatalities and injuries on our roadways, waterways and trails. Congratulations and thank you to our newest officers for their dedication and commitment to serve with pride, professionalism and honour.”
