Midland man faces impaired charges after Cookstown crash

On Monday, May 25, at 9:15 a,m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a collision on Queen Street just west of King Street in Cookstown. Police were advised that a red Mazda travelling eastbound on Queen Street crossed the road and struck a vehicle parked facing westbound on the north side of the roadway.  

The driver was arrested for drug impaired driving and transported to South Division for examination by a Drug Recognition Expert.  

As a result, 22-year-old Duncan Peters of Midland was charged with dangerous operation, operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

No one was injured in the collision.
