Midland man, 20, accused of spraying number of people with a noxious substance

Police say the product was similar to bear spray

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 7:57 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2021 to a Frederick Street, Midland residence after the OPP Communications Center received a call reporting a disturbance at that location.

Responding uniform officers located a number of persons at the scene that had been sprayed with a noxious substance believed to be a product similar to bear spray.

An upper floor apartment was searched by investigators who located and arrested Dylan Beasley, 20 years old of Midland, as the person responsible with the following offences.

  • Administer noxious thing with intent to annoy (four counts)
  • Assault with a weapon (four counts)
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on March 18, 2021.

The victims were decontaminated at Georgian Bay General Hospital and released.
