Man charged in Oro-Medonte crash that killed Tay woman

Sudbury man, 51, charged with impaired, dangerous driving causing death in relation to April collision

Police have laid charges in relation to a collision earlier this year in Oro-Medonte that killed a Tay Township woman.

Orillia OPP responded just before 5 a.m. April 7 to a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 12 at Stage Coach Road.

The crash killed Irene Youngblut (nee Ciesielski), 66.

On Wednesday, police arrested Leo Michel, 51, of Sudbury, who has been charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available.

Michel was held in custody and was set to appear Thursday in Orillia court.
