Man accused of using stolen credit cards

On June 18, 2020 the Communications Centre of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Orillia received a complaint from a Midland resident reporting an overnight vehicle entry and theft of Visa and debit credit cards. Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment attended and learned that the unlocked vehicle had been parked on Sixth Street, Midland and entered between midnight and 1:00 a.m. June 18, 2020.

The suspect used the stolen credit cards at Midland area retail outlets and through investigation techniques and surveillance footage the suspect was identified by the investigating officer.

On July 20, 2020 OPP officers located and arrested Donald Longworth, 50 years of no fixed address, for the following offences resulting from this investigation.

  • Possession of a credit card
  • Fraud under $5000
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 

The accused was released from police custody on July 21, 2020 with an undertaking to appear on Nov. 12, 2020 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland.
