Local man facing charges after alleged assault at apartment

The accused, a Penetanguishene man, was arrested four days after the incident occurred at a Chatham Street apartment

PENETANGUISHENE – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment responded at 8:35 p.m. on April 21, 2020 to a report of an male being assaulted in his Chatham Street apartment.

The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of uniform members who searched the area and throughout the town with negative results.

Officers were assisted in their investigation of the incident by members of the OPP Central Region Crime Unit resulting in the suspect being arrested by uniform members in the Town of Penetanguishene at 8:10 a.m. on April 25, 2020.

Charged is Timothy Patrick Cole, 47 years, of Penetanguishene with the following offences in relation to this investigation:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or bodily harm 
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose  
  • Assault with a weapon  
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held in custody to appear before bail court via video and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
