A Penetanguishene business owner and former mayoralty candidate has been charged with sexual assault.
Michael Cadieux, 64, is to appear in Midland’s Ontario Court of Justice to have the single count against him spoken to Thursday. He was originally charged March 2 following an investigation by Southern Georgian Bay OPP; he was later released on bail.
Cadieux ran for mayor in 2014, losing to incumbent Gerry Marshall.
The charge stems from an incident at a downtown Penetanguishene location where a man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman.
A publication ban has been put in place to protect the woman’s identity.
