Highway 400 shut down after deadly single-vehicle crash (Update: reopened)

At 6:05 p.m., all lanes of Highway 400 near Muskoka Road 34 (Whites Falls Road) in Georgian Bay Township were fully reopened for traffic.

Details are scant but the Southern Georgian Bay OPP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier today on Highway 400.

OPP report a vehicle crashed into the centre rock face median of the highway just north of Muskoka Road 34 (White Falls Road) in Georgian Bay Township.

No details have been provided. Police say only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

At 4:15 p.m. investigators opened the shoulder lane only for northbound traffic.

Motorists can expect interruptions through the area until approximately 6 p.m. when investigators expect to have the scene safe and clear for both northbound lanes to be reopened.
